GETTING TO KNOW SOPHIA BRUEGGEMAN:
Favorite food: Pesto pasta with tomatoes and chicken
Favorite Quote: “A humble heart is the birthplace of passion, for it knows that every step forward is a gift, not a guarantee.”
Favorite Family Tradition: Watching “A Christmas Carol” with my family every holiday season.
Favorite Pre-Meet Tradition: Doing a line dance to “Cotton Eye Joe” with my teammates before every meet.
Sports Highlight: Being selected to swim on a relay with my twin and younger sister at the state meet. My sisters and I have always been close, but swimming on this relay with two of them brought us even closer together as we got to share our love for the sport. The relay was the last event of the meet, and I wouldn’t have wanted to end my high school career with anyone else.
Recognitions & Activities: 4.325 GPA, four-year varsity swim, set school records for 100 Butterfly, 100 Backstroke, 200 Medley relay and 400 Free Relay, 4X All-American, 6X All-State, team captain for the 2024 season, Blue Crew, Spanish Honors Society, Unified Sports, LifeTeen Youth Group Senior Leader.
Fun Fact: My family and I went to Bolivia when I was 12 years old to visit our relatives and do mission work. The trip was very fun and eye-opening for me.
Next Plans: I will be attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I will study biology and continue my athletic journey as a swimmer. I am currently most interested in becoming a physician’s assistant.
